I don't like to use other people's bathrooms.

So funny and so true: "Calculated Risk Assessment" of bathrooms

Design Dorks

My score: 33 out of 34. Design games are fun - someone should make an industrial design version: "The Rather Difficult Chair Game" where players have to identify designer chairs.

A roller coaster ride

Lovely lovely animation for the Zurich Chamber Orchestra by Euro RSCG. I've watched it at least a dozen times before I even got to posting.

Love Food, Hate Waste

I cannot not finish a meal; I have been raised to eat up every last grain of rice in my dinner bowl. And my family didn't even do the whole dessert/reward thing. Since I've been in school and cooking for myself more often, not wasting the food that I have is a big concern to me. When I do find the time to go groccery shopping, I try to avoid overloading the shopping cart and only buy things that I know I will be using soon. Nevertheless, my refrigerator and pantry is still filled with foods that I have bought impulsively, and never gotten around to using. Right now, I am looking for good recipe that calls for a lot of sour cream since I have a whole can of it that is expiring soon. Love Food, Hate Waste is a campaign to help raise awareness of how much food is wasted and how we as individuals can plan and prepare food more effectively to eat healthy and avoid wasting food. The campaign has a lot of potential to help people reduce wasting food. You can look for recipes based on a certain ingredient that you want to use, which is sort of a toned down version of supercook. The one problem I have with this approach is that I end up having to go buy more ingredients to make the recipe that is supposed to help me use up the foods that I already have, and now I am left with the new foods that I have to find a use for. Such a vicious cycle. Until I can come up with a better solution, I am going to go bake me some strawberry sour cream bread.

A point well made...

Is it just me, or is the UK where all the good design is at.

On monkey work...

I love everything about designing, except for doing monkey work. You'll hear this term a lot from me: monkey work is basically pixel pushing, paper cropping, project mounting, brainless labor. All monkey work that I would rather pass off to someone else (albeit, someone who is just as much if not more OCD and anal about craft as I am). Once I'm done with the design part, I want to move on to better things.

But, I must admit there are certain kinds of monkey work that I like to do. One thing that I love to do is put postage stamps on envelopes. I could do this hundreds at a time  -- especially if they're pretty stamps... because really, who doesn't love stickers.

Start placing your bets...

So I'm not quite sure why I'm starting a blog again. Certainly not because I like to write, nor is it because I have lots of free time (sarcasm). I guess it's because I am forgetting things, and that's one of the worst things right now, so I need some way to remember. Paper? I will probably lose it. Chances are, I will probably lose this blog too... let's see if I can make this last a year.

To my friends, who knew me back in the xanga days: You probably remember me neglecting the xanga that I finally submitted to signing up for after everyone else had been happily epropping away for years (I think I should have gotten some kind of prize for being the last asian to sign up for an account). Well, here I am again in the digital world. If you happen to come across this: hi again!
